Two new building blocks, 12 to 13 billion years old, discovered

Researchers have announced the discovery of two new building blocks, named "Shakti" and "Shiva with ages between 12 and 13 billion years.

According to a statement from the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy, astronomers examined data from approximately 6 million stars obtained from the Gaia Space Telescope.

Astronomers identified two new building blocks named Shakti and Shiva, which came together 12 to 13 billion years ago to play a role in the formation of the Milky Way Galaxy.

It is believed that Shakti and Shiva, estimated to be among the oldest building blocks of the Milky Way, will provide significant information about the origins of the galaxy.

The results of the research were published in the Astrophysical Journal.
